[L-USA] Rogaine in Mammoth Cave Nat'l Park, KY

From: Randy Hall (randy@mapsurfer.com) | Date: 1999-02-21 22:26:00 UTC-04:00
Sorry this is a bit off topic (well, rogaining is related to
orienteering which is related to letterboxing, sort of :-))

But, I am looking for a partner for the OLOU rogaine in mammoth
cave nat'l park on march 20th. So, if you like to rogaine, and
can make it to KY, e-mail me to see if there is a partnership
fit. Their web site is http://www.iglou.com/bluegrass/ofiles/l-c.html

Thx
Randy "the mapsurfer"

Rogaine - are you pulling your hair out? what is rogaining? The
bluegrass part of the URL sounded good!

Rogaining is a form of orienteering originally developed in Australia.
The key differences between it and regular orienteering are: larger
area (and hence larger scale maps), longer time (a true rogaine means
you are in the woods for 24 hours; the one in KY has 4, 8, and 12 hour
times), you go with a partner or in a group, and you visit the controls
in any order you choose (like score-O).

See http://rogaine.asn.au/ara/rogaine.html or type "Rogaining" into Yahoo.

The name comes comes from the jamming together of the first names of the
people who developed it (Rob, Gail, and Neil I think). There is a widespread
myth that the name is an acronym. It has nothing to do with hair tonic :-)
